6 Weeks of After-School Pottery
Tuesdays, 3:30–5:30 pm
September 22nd – October 27th
Ages 8–12
A playful six-week pottery club inspired by surrealism, imagination, and wonderfully odd and unexpected ideas.
Kids will explore what happens when ordinary objects get a little strange: mugs with feet, dreamlike creatures, oversized details, tiny worlds, faces on pots, unusual combinations, and whatever else they can dream up in clay.
Throughout the course, students will learn and build on a variety of pottery techniques, including slab, coil, pinch and sculptural hand-building, introductory wheel throwing, mini-wheel throwing, carving, texture, stamping, underglaze painting, and glazing.
Projects will be guided, but with lots of room for kids to make their work their own. We’ll focus on experimenting with ideas, combining forms, trying new techniques, and building confidence in their own creative choices.
Returning students are very welcome!
Projects rotate each session, and returning potters will be encouraged to build on their existing skills, try more advanced variations, work more independently, and develop their own original project with guidance from their instructor.
Expect strange creatures, wonky pots, unexpected objects, and plenty of very good ideas.
Maximum 8 students so everyone gets lots of hands-on help and studio time.
Clay, materials, tools, glazing, firings, and aprons are all included.
Minimum 4 participants required to run the class. If minimum enrolment is not reached, the course may be cancelled and all registrations will be fully refunded.
