A 6-week after-school pottery club for creative kids ages 8–12!
This next session of our after-school clay club will focus on exploring the possibilities of clay, building new skills and getting creative with both the pottery wheel and hand-building techniques.
Over six weeks, we'll experiment with wheel throwing, slab building, sculpting, shaping, and surface decoration to create all kinds of unique pottery. From bowls and cups to funky vessels and imaginative creations, kids will have plenty of opportunities to explore their own ideas and bring them to life in clay!
We'll spend extra time on the pottery wheel this session, learning how to centre clay, shape forms and develop throwing skills. Returning students will be encouraged to take on new challenges and experiment with more complex forms, while beginners will be guided through the fundamentals at their own pace.
Along the way, we'll explore trimming, adding handles and sculptural details, carving, decorating with underglazes and finishing our pieces with colourful studio glazes.
No experience necessary! This course is designed for both new and returning students, with plenty of room for creativity, experimentation and a little mess-making!
✷ Tuesdays, January 12 – February 16, 2027, (6 weeks)
✷ 3:30–5 PM ***new end time***
✷ $319 + GST per child
✷ Ages 8–12
✷ All clay, tools, underglazes, studio glazes and firings included
✷ A mix of pottery wheel instruction, handbuilding and sculptural techniques
✷ Maximum 8 participants. A minimum of 4 participants is required for the class to run.
In the event of low enrolment, we reserve the right to cancel the class and will provide a full refund.
Just your creativity and clothes you don't mind getting a little muddy! We recommend tying back long hair and wearing comfortable clothes suitable for working with clay.
