6-week wheel-throwing course

September 21st - November 2nd (one week off for stat holiday)

Mondays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm

A themed series of wheel courses for youth ages 12-16. Taught by Alana & Alleah

Oct/Nov Theme: Shape + Form
Explore ways to shape and alter wheel-thrown pots using ribs, fingers, and pressure to create curves, volume, and more expressive forms, including Alana’s signature bubble shape. We’ll also sketch and plan original vessel forms, then work on translating those ideas from paper into clay on the wheel.

This course is the first in a rotating series of teen wheel courses, with each session featuring a different technique or creative focus. Returning students can continue building their throwing skills while exploring something new each round.

✷ ✷ ✷ ✷ ✷

Teens will come together after school to learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel, creating forms like cups and bowls, with returning students encouraged to explore larger or more complex forms.

Students will also learn how to trim, decorate, attach handles, and glaze their wheel-thrown work. This class is beginner-friendly for students who are new to the wheel or working with clay, while also being suitable for returning students looking to refine and build on their skills.

The first 3 classes will focus primarily on throwing on the wheel. Classes 4 & 5 will focus on trimming, attaching handles, shaping, and surface decoration, with the final class dedicated to glazing.

✷ ✷ ✷ ✷ ✷

8 participants maximum. A minimum of 4 participants is required for the class to run.
In the event of low enrolment, we reserve the right to cancel the class and will provide a full refund.

Students have access to $10, unlimited clay, 2-hour drop-ins to practice skills during the course.

Includes all supplies: firings, studio glazes (over 35 beautiful options), underglazes, use of tools and unlimited clay.

✷ Each student receives a studio guide book to borrow for the duration of the course, that includes infographics and step by step instructions to help remind you of the many steps (useful for drop-in practice sessions) and for studying outside of class

Missed Classes & Cancellation Policy:
Please ensure you can commit to the full 6-week class series at the time of booking. Makeup classes are not available. Please review the FAQ/Policy page on our website for full details, as our cancellation policies apply.
