Discover the possibilities of clay beyond the pottery wheel!

This 4-week introductory course explores the foundations of hand-building and ceramic sculpture, offering a fun and creative introduction to working with clay by hand. Perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to expand their pottery skills, this course will introduce you to a variety of techniques for creating both functional and sculptural pieces.

Led by instructor Wren Renaud, students will learn the fundamentals of pinch, coil and slab construction, along with sculpting, joining, shaping and surface decoration techniques. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exploration, you'll develop the skills to transform simple pieces of clay into unique forms, from cups and vessels to more expressive, sculptural creations.

Throughout the course, you'll have opportunities to experiment with texture, form and personal design, before learning how to finish your pieces with underglazes and our collection of studio glazes.

No experience necessary! This course is designed to build confidence with clay while leaving plenty of room for creativity and experimentation.
